Police Officer Invents Product to Battle Itching, Heat Rash, Prickly Heat, Chaffing and Irritation Caused By Body Armor

If you've ever worn body armor or a plate carrier for an extended period of time, you (or someone you know) may have dealt with one of the most common issues that comes with the territory; that itchy rash!

So what actually causes these painful rashes, chaffing, prickly heat and irritations?

The answer actually depends on the ailment. For the most part, these irritations are caused by bacteria; which develops a result of your perspiration.

You see, when your sweat doesn't have the ability to evaporate it remains soaked in your undershirt and/or your body armor. This leads to bacterial growth. When this bacteria remains soaked against your skin it can eventually work its' way into your pores. And this is when the itching, rash, pain and suffering begins.

A serious problem

After suffering from these issues himself during his 13 year career as a Police Officer, Suresh Madhavan decided it was time do something about it. He saw himself (and many of his co-workers) so affected by these ailments that they began tempting fate by considering not wearing their body armor while on duty.

The Solution

After months of testing and countless prototypes, Madhavan eventually pinned down the design of what is now being worn by over 140,000 police officers, first responders, military operators and many more: The Maxx-Dri Vest.

The Maxx-Dri Vest is the solution for body armor ventilation that thousands have been searching for since the inception of body armor itself. Worn directly beneath your body armor, The Maxx-Dri Vest creates separation between your armor and base layer creating a layer of air which allows moisture and perspiration to vent out and escape into the atmosphere.

How it works

For those wearing moisture wicking shirts such as Under Armour, The Maxx-Dri Vest allows these shirts to actually do what they were meant to do. Think about it...without air and separation, these expensive shirts are simply wicking your sweat away from your skin and directly into your body armor, where it remains until bacteria forms. Of course, it has nowhere else to go...until now.

Results matter

Thousands have reported that their rash, prickly heat, itchiness and other skin irritations have completely disappeared after using The Maxx-Dri Vest. This came as no surprise to Madhavan who, in fact, graduated Pre-Med with a degree in bio-chemistry. "If your skin can't breath it's going to suffocate. Your skin is a living organ. It has to breathe. With The Maxx-Dri Vest I simply discovered a way for this to occur without the need for anything mechanical or bulky. It's completely passive. In fact, most people forget they're even wearing it until they take it off and realize their undershirt is dry and their skin isn't clammy."

I have the same question as Daniel Stanford

I wear my gear in a carrier vest over my uniform shirt. When I purchase your vest do I wear it between my carrier and shirt or under my uniform shirt and over a t-shirt. I guess what I’m asking is how should I wear it

Do you all have any plans to make a universal carrier for IIIA (and other soft armor) by chance?
