Police Officer Invents New Body Armor Ventilation and Cooling Vest Device To Battle Excessive Sweat, Odor and Discomfort While Wearing Body Armor

Suresh Madhavan, a 13 year veteran Police Officer from New Jersey, couldn't stand how hot, sweaty and miserable he got while wearing his body armor on the job. So much so that in 2013 he started working on a product to help solve the problem of excessive heat, sweat, odor and moisture build-up while wearing body armor on the job. He was determined to figure out a way to allow his body and undershirt to breath while wearing body armor while on duty as a police officer. He knew that if he could come up with something which allowed for body armor ventilation and body armor cooling, not only would he be helping himself, but he'd be helping hundreds of thousands of police officers, first responders and military personnel around the world who suffered while wearing body armor.

Today, four years later and over 85,000 units sold, his invention, The Maxx-Dri Vest for body armor ventilation and cooling has become one of the best must have products for police officers, first responders and military operators across the country and around the world. Not bad for a patrol officer who sewed the very first prototype himself on a sewing machine in his bedroom and started his company, 221B Tactical, out of his garage in New Jersey.

The first product he designed, The Maxx-Dri Vest was an instant hit among local police officers that he knew. But it wasn't until he and his business partner Brad attended The Police Security Expo 2014 in Atlantic City, NJ that things really took off for them. PoliceOne.com even interviewed Madhavan after stopping by his booth to check out this body armor ventilation product that everyone at the show was talking about.

In 2015 221B Tactical released The Maxx-Dri Vest 2.0 which was met with 5 Star Reviews from police officers and first responders from as far away as Australia and New Zealand. The Maxx-Dri Vest 2.0 offered unmatched body armor comfort and ventilation by featuring a 8mm Maxx-Dri material which was 2mm more than the original Maxx-Dri Vest.

For the next two years Madhavan continued to study feedback he received from male and female police officers across the country and around the world and began incorporating much of what he was hearing into a new product that was going to completely change the game, once again, for those who wore body armor on the job.

In early 2017 The Maxx-Dri Vest 3.0 was released. The newest vest featured many of the features that officers had been hoping to see in the next generation Maxx-Dri Vest. It featured Velcro side closures, Velcro shoulder straps which allowed you to secure your Maxx-Dri Vest to your body armor, and a patented new spine system which greatly increased the cooling and ventilation capacity on the rear of the vest.

Within hours of going live online, The Maxx-Dri Vest 3.0 was completely SOLD OUT. Madhavan later said in an interview, "We thought we were prepared for the rush of orders we were anticipating. But we were completely blown away at the sheer volume of orders that came rushing in from police officers around the world. We even had to have an emergency meeting with our logistics team to coordinate shipping because we were getting orders from countries in parts of the world we had never shipped to before. It was really kinda crazy."

Since its release, The Maxx-Dri Vest has received thousands upon thousands of Five Star reviews from police officers in all 50 states and over 25 different countries!!

Most recently Madhavan, recognizing that thousands were still ordering the Original Maxx-Dri Vest for body armor ventilation and body armor cooling, decided to re-design the original vest and incorporate into it the features of The Maxx-Dri Vest 3.0 which was so well received. He calls this newest innovation The Maxx-Dri Vest 1.0 SL. Madhavan states, "What you get with The 1.0 SL is all the features of the 3.0 but it's made with the original 6mm Maxx-Dri material. Although most officers prefer the 8mm material we use on the 2.0 and 3.0, we have quite a few that still opt for the slightly thinner 1.0 and 1.0 SL."

No matter which version of The Maxx-Dri Vest you choose, one thing seems to hold true; when it comes to body armor ventilation, body armor cooling and body armor comfort, the most trusted outlets like PoliceOne.com and Officer.com agree, The Maxx-Dri Vest by 221B Tactical is THE solution if you're tired of being hot, sweaty, uncomfortable and miserable in your body armor.

EDITOR'S NOTE: The Maxx-Dri Vest is the only product of it's kind to be officially Tested and Recommended by The N.T.O.A (National Tactical Officers Association).
