Health, Wealth and Wisdom #5

When I tell people I work out  and lift weights 6 days a week and train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 4 days a week, I usually get a "look" as if I'm some sort of whack job. Funny thing is, that's how I feel about people who don't work out at all. Seriously, what's more important than your health; fantasy football and Netflix?

Without your health, you have nothing. Just ask anyone currently dealing with a serious medical condition.

Health: Boost Your HGH

HGH (Human Growth Hormone) is critical for so many things physiologically I can't even go into it all here. Most of you know I'm a huge proponent of maintaining proper HGH levels but doing it NATURALLY. There are lots of potential side effects when taking exogenous HGH so I prefer to do the things that will help my endogenous HGH production.

Here's a list of my favorite foods to help naturally boost my HGH.

  • Eggs
  • Nuts
  • Raspberries
  • Fish

Intermittent fasting is another great way to naturally boost your HGH levels. The real benefits start at 16 hours. But if your'e just starting out, go for 12 hours of fasting and work your way up to 16, 18 and even 24.

Wealth: Dollar Cost Averaging

Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) is one of the investment strategies that has lead me to become a millionaire. It was taught to me early on by a mentor of mine who today is a billionaire.

The premise of it is very simple; invest the same dollar amount into a given investment vehicle EVERY SINGLE MONTH no matter what. And when your income increases, increase the amount invested every month. This seems easy enough, but in times like this when the stock market it crashing, it's VERY hard to continue to put your money into it every month. Ironically, over the years I've learned, times like this are PRECISELY when Dollar Cost Averaging is so important.

DCA works because it's a set it and forget it plan. It takes the thinking and guesswork out of investing. When I first started, I knew nothing about the stock market, and that was ok. I was told where to invest my money, how much to invest (based on my income) and to do it on a monthly basis like clockwork. That was all.

Today, because of this strategy, my investment portfolio is bigger than I could have ever imagined. If you don't know where to begin or how to get this going, shoot me a message and I'll share with you how I did it. Truth be told, I'm just gonna tell you what the billionaire told me to do. It's simple and it works.

Wisdom: Rich Dad. Poor Dad.

This book has changed the lives of millions upon millions of people. If you know nothing about money, saving and investing, you should read it. If you know about money, saving and investing, you should STILL read it. I guarantee you'll learn something from this book.

I read this book when I was a fairly young man but really didn't put any of the principles to work. I was still young, dumb and thought I knew better than this "financial guru."

Fast forward a few years and I picked it up again from my library and read it again. What a difference a few years makes. Reading it for a second time, when I was a bit older and wiser, completely opened up my eyes to the mistakes I was making from a financial standpoint.

I recommend you get this book and read it once through. Then, I recommend you get a highlighter and sit down and read it AGAIN! This time highlight the critical parts and put sticky notes on the pages that matter to you most. Then, take action.

What I'm about to say is not said lightly; "Rich Dad. Poor Dad." is one of the reasons I sit here today writing this blog as a millionaire. I grew up poor as hell and never had anything handed to me from anyone. I had to do it all by myself.

If you're not happy with your current financial situation, do yourself a favor and read this book. I assure you it will change your life if you follow the advice in it.
