Why Staying Drier Is THE KEY To Staying Warmer In The Cold Weather This Winter
A lot of people ask whether or not The Maxx-Dri Vest for body armor ventilation and comfort works during the colder, winter months. And the answer is a resounding, YES! Here's why...
In the winter time you perspire beneath your body armor just as you do in the warmer months. However, during the winter it isn't quite as apparent. You may notice that even in the winter, after removing your body armor at the end of your shift, your base layer thermal is damp. And it's this moisture that you need to eliminate to stay warm during those frigid shifts.
I hated wearing a jacket on patrol because I always found myself overheating. Additionally, I couldn't stand the bulkiness of the jackets and coats which were issued to us at my agency. In fact, I felt they were a safety hazard in some situations because they limited my mobility and access to my duty belt.
So then how do you stay dry, warm and maintain mobility in the cold weather while wearing body armor on patrol?
A solution didn't exist, so I decided to invent one!
The Maxx-Dri Vest for body armor ventilation and comfort not only keeps you cooler and drier in the summer time, it also keeps you drier and warmer in the colder months. How? Easy... by eliminating the moisture that builds up beneath your body armor which typically occurs while seated in your vehicle or while indoors. We've all been on those calls at that house our apartment where the thermostat is set at 80 degrees. You literally start sweating due to your jacket or layers of thermals.
The Maxx-Dri Vest creates a layer of air between your body armor and your base layer shirt, allowing excess heat and moisture to evaporate into the atmosphere. This keeps you drier when things heat up. And when you step outside, back into the cold, you stay warm rather than having that moisture chill you to your core.
Now, most thermal base-layers are the same all around. By this I mean they offer the same thermal material throughout the entire shirt. This is great for most people...just not those wearing body armor! That's why I developed The Equinoxx Collection of thermals.
The Equinoxx Collection of winter thermals were engineered to provide the wind-blocking and thermal protection where you need it most and moisture wicking technology where you really need it the most...beneath your body armor vest. Be it concealed armor that you wear beneath your uniform shirt or an outer carrier vest, your core needs to breath.
The Equinoxx line of thermals has a unique wind-blocking, thermal layer on the sleeves, shoulders and upper chest which keeps you just as warm (if not warmer) than most winter jackets. The front and back (core) of the shirt it designed with a beautiful, thinner, stretch moisture wicking material which keeps you nice and dry. Pair these incredible thermals up with a Maxx-Dri Vest and you have the ultimate system to stay warm, dry and comfortable all winter long.
The weather is unpredictable...as is the job. Don't settle for gear that doesn't keep you prepared for both!
